Squeaking is a sound made when two objects rub up against each other in a certain way. When you rubbed your skin on the glass, you rubbed it in such a way to make it squeak. I can't really give much more of an answer as I can't find out what exactly produces a squeak, though I feel it has something to do with the rubbing of low-friction surfaces.
Whoo... it's been a while since I last checked the forum. Sorry about the delay. Once again, a job and a social group have dominated my life for the past two weeks. Anyways, on to the answers:
3-D Magic Eye technology works similar to 3-D movies. Instead of using glasses to seperate the images for each eye, the two seperate images are displaced from each other, under a kalidescope color scheme that doesn't disrupt the shape. When you cross your eyes/see past the image, you find the point where each eye has the seperate image in focus, and it creates the shape.
The technique many people use is to put your face very close to the image, stare past the image at the wall behind it, and slowly move your face back from the image until the 3-D shape comes into focus. The technique I use is simply to cross my eyes until I can see the image, which actually creates the reverse effect where I see the image sunken instead of raised. Try these and see if you can see the shape.
Bagpipes are actually very creative instruments. The player of the bagpipe is actually not fueling any of the flutes that come from the bag. What the player is doing is inflating the bag, which is then squeezed between the player's arm and body. This forces air out of the many flutes, which create tones based on how the player's hands are organized. The creative part is that this instrument can be played constantly, not requiring a break for the player to take a breath. All the player has to do is keep squeezing the bag while inhaling, and the music continues to play.
When you go to sleep, all of your muscles relax and blood flow is decreased to conserve energy. This state continues until you wake, when your muscles start responding again and blood starts to flow normally. Right when you wake up, blood may not be flowing regularly through certain body parts, which deadens nervous response. This creates the sensation that a body part is external, until blood flows normally and nerves start responding normally again.

Why do you have to ftp upload some files in binary? Shouldn't text uploading transfer the file the same?

Whoo boy. I got a lot of goodies here. Sorry for the HUGE delay. Work and Dagorhir take most if not all my time.
The norm for molecules is to shrink in size when heat is removed and to expand when heat is added. This is due to the individual components of the molecule absorbing the heat energy and changing it into kinetic energy. The only molecule we know of that doesn't do that is the water molecule, or H20. Adding heat energy causes water to shrink, and removing heat causes water to expand. No one really knows why this happens, but it seems to have something to do with the heat causing increased magnetic attraction between the atomic components of a water molecule, which would suggest the same kind of behavior in any other molecule with a similar magnetic structure. Since water expands when heat is removed, it will grow bigger than it's container and explode.
The process you are describing, when matter changes from solid to gas or vice versa, is called sublimation, and it's a lot more common than you think. The main aspect of sublimation is a quick change in temperature. When air that is heavily saturated with water vapor is quickly cooled, the water vapor transforms instantly into water crystals. (By the way, this is how snowflakes are formed in the atmosphere) In reality, this process isn't instantaneous, but happens so fast that we don't notice it. Every substance requires a certain amount of energy to increase it's temperature, and a certain amount of energy to change it's state of matter. For instance, as ice, water needs W joules to raise it's temperature one degree Celcius per gram of ice, X joules to change ice to water at 0 degrees Celcius per gram of ice, Y joules to raise the water's temperature one degree Celcius per gram of water, Z joules to change the water to vapor at 100 degrees Celcius, and so on. Using this information, we can figure out how much energy is required to change a block of ice to water vapor instantly. If the ice was at -10 C, and we want to change it to water vapor at 110 C, then the amount of energy we want to add is M * (10W + X + 100Y + Z + 10A). This causes the ice to change so quickly into water vapor that we don't notice the middle water step. To reverse the process, you simply remove the energy instead of adding it. Now, back to CO2. When you expose dry ice to normal atmosphere, the atmosphere adds enough energy to the dry ice to sublimate it directly to vapor. I believe that CO2 does have a liquid form, just that it requires so little energy to change it's temperature that it can only be seen in controlled labs.
Not being able to move after waking up sounds like you're waiting for the rest of your body to wake up, meaning getting blood flowing and the nerves reactivated, thereby activating your muscles. This happens in all people upon waking, but for most the process is almost instantaneous. For some, however, it just takes a while. A way to speed the process up is to get a lot of exercise, as this improves circulation and nervous response time.
Psychologists (those who study the mind) do not classify a condition called sanity. They know of many different conditions that make a person insane, like schizophrenia. Mostly, insanity boils down to any condition which causes the person to present a danger to others or his or her self, be it physical or emotional danger. (This is sometimes abstracted to anyone who does not follow social norms, not that it's the right thing to do.)
When you upload files using FTP, you can upload them in either ASCII mode or binary mode. The reason for ASCII mode to exist is because of the difference between Windows, Unix, and MacOS. In Windows, a new line is signified by character 13 (CR, or carriage return) followed by character 10 (LF, or line feed). In Unix, a new line is signified by only a LF, while in MacOS, only a CR is used. Now, ASCII mode in FTP translates the various newlines from one to another. For instance, if I was uploading a text file from a Windows computer to a Unix computer, the FTP software would translate all CR+LF sequences to just a LF. Now, this can't be done all the time, as some files rely on the exact sequence of bytes and don't depend on newlines, so binary mode does no translation.
PEZ candies was invented by Edward Haas as a peppermint candy to replace smoking. PEZ is not an acronym, it just came from the first flavor it was made in, peppermint, or pfefferminz in German. It was the first, middle, and last letter in the word. There's no reason for it to be capitalized, just that the company likes it that way. Source: http://www.pezcollectorsnews.com/history.htm
