Super Smash Characters

I'm bored so lets name some characters you would like to see in a fighting game

It's obvious we need the rest of the Mario brothers, like Wario, and maybe Waluigi. Some of the DK crew would also be nice. More pokémon, and maybe even Captain Olimar from Pikmin. A great addition would be the rest of the Earthbound cast. Gotta love PS StarStorm Omega!

Seems this isn't restricted to just Nintendo characters, so let's start with all the long standing platformers:

Mario
Donkey Kong
Link
Samus Aran
Pikachu
Sonic

(I'm aware a majority of them are Nintendo-only characters, but I can't really think of many reoccuring characters for the other game companies).

Then we add the sidekicks who have become really popular:

Mario
Luigi
Donkey Kong
Diddy Kong
Link
Samus Aran
Pikachu
Sonic
Tails

This is starting to look like the Super Smash Brothers lineup. I wouldn't include some of them, however, because they've only starred in one game or fewer (Captain Falcon has never been in a game, they made his character up totally).

There have to be many reoccuring characters that I'm missing here. Care to fill in the blanks?

Yeah, but he really didn't do anything. He just drove, there was no story to his moves. More awsome characters would be Megaman, Protoman, and Bomberman!

So far, the list of characters we would include is:

Mario
Luigi
Sonic
Tails
Donkey Kong
Diddy Kong
Link
Samus Aran
Pikachu
Bomberman

If we include characters from the Megaman universe, we add four more:

Megaman
Protoman
Megaman X
Zero

There have to be a few more characters that we've been forgetting. Like:

Earthworm Jim

Plus, any characters from fighting games that just keep coming back, such as:

Sub-Zero
Scorpion
Raiden
(The list of fighters from Mortal Kombat goes here)

And so on...

CF was also in BandaiSatelliview F-Zero 2, F-Zero X and F-Zero Maximum Velocity. And he does _sort of_ have a story (in the manual for F-Zero, dunno about the others)

While Captain Falcon may have a history, and he does appear a little in some games, he was never the primary or even secondary character in any game, unlike Mario, Luigi, Sonic and Tails. He has always been included as a side effect, which is why I feel that he should not be part of the fighting game.

I dunno, Isn't Captain Falcon the returning champion in all the F-Zeros? (exept the game boy one{?})

Yes, but in the F-Zero games, as far as I know, he drove, and that's it. Ther was no running around with Captain Falcon, so they made up all his moves off the spot.

maybe he got into an accident one game and had a road rage fight and he did falcooonnnnnn PUNCH! then falccoooooon KICK! thats a good enough history
