For once, I'm not asking for help :/
Unless you have a very broad definition of the word...

OK, I'm around halfway through rewriting the STS page into PHP/MySQL, and I was wondering...

a) How do I remotely get a table into the tgb MySQL db...?
b) What do I use as the hostname? localhost, since PHP is server-side, or something different?

Thanks...

first you need a db account, then you need a db then you can put tables in it using the mysql.exe that comes with the windows distro of the sql server...you need to read the command line options to get it to work, localhost will work for hostname, thegreatbeyond.net will too, anything else will need to be an IP address(the server doesnt have a DNS lookup, but recognizes that tgb.net is itself) so if you have your own database server...

you find the person who owns the site(me) and give them a password and a username, and a database name

I can't seem to connect, through the DOS MySQL binary or NaviCat.

I don't know whether I'm doing something wrong, or whether you haven't made the user or not yet...

In any case, can you import my current files into the database for me so I can test that they work with my test pages? If I can't access it with the binary but I can over the net, that's okay because I can make a page to let me update...

I've migrated around half my pages to use PHP/MySQL now, I can't update until I get it working... they work on my computer/network...
