3 new comics up! Huzzah!

I have no idea how far behind I am... I'm afraid to work it out...

Updated some other parts of my page, too.

I _will_ update my site within a week. I promise. Whether it's new comics or just an aesthetic improvement, I dunno. But I'm going to update _something_.

Well, I was going to make some new comics this morning...
then work jumped up and hit me in the face.
So it may take me a few days longer to update. Why does this always happen?

<DT updates, the universe explodes>
Yes, I finally have made a new comic! Hoolay...
The death of BasketBall Man is close at hand. Any guesses for who's next? I'll remind you of the remaining RMs:
Edit Man
Fountain Man
UnixTerminal Man

'course, a comic wasn't _only_ what I wanted to put up there. I've got heaps of stuff to work on, including:
- A 'Nostalgia' page with all my previous comics, why I stopped them, what was going to happen had I continued them.
- A Java Counter. Only problem is, I don't know if it could write to files on beyonder's computer (to keep track of what number it's supposed to be). I guess I'll have to ask him.
- Some sort of Java comic viewer, so people don't need to use the archive pages.
- Changing all the 'DarkT Software' s to 'Result 27 Software' s. What? I asked for any ideas, and no-one gave me any... or gave me anything sensible, anyways.

Oh, and do some more work on Hangman, too. I have done _some_ but not a lot.

Eh? The Java Security Manager doesn't allow applets to do very much on the client's side of things, apart from drawing to the screen. Hardly anything else apart from that and calculations... You can't read or write files on the client side, for example. As far as I know.

Forgive me, but I don't know what jsp stands for. You mean JavaScript? I'm talking Java here, not JavaScript, and besides, it's the browser that runs the applet, not the server.
Also, I don't know php.

No comments on the comic? *sniff*

Pez-Man, you can't complain. I asked for ideas and didn't get any useful ones, so...

jsp=JavaServer Pages... http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/ ..also to write to files on the server you need something running on the server....be it another applet(servlet) or, if you kno how to use mySQL queries you could write to a db w/ a pw, but to have a client side script write directly to files on a server = bad. for obvious reasons......how exactly were u planning to write this applet anyway?

Well, I was assuming that the working directory would be the directory in which the applet's CLASS file was located, and I was going to just open the file with a FileWriter then put that into a BufferedWriter.

Pez-Man: I like DT Software too, but people already have it.

Riiiight...

The CLASS file is downloaded by the browser.
The browser runs the CLASS file's applet methods in its local JVM.
The server merely provides the CLASS file. It doesn't have to recognise it.
