Why is this the funniest thread when it is supposed to be the most serious?

What do you mean?

Let's break it down.

Why is this thread the funniest thread...

...when it's supposed to be the most serious.

Can't really break it down more than that. It's supposed to be serious because people are supposed to ask you all sorts of scientifical questions, but instead it's funny because people ask you randomtifical questions.

The reason I asked was because I'd like to know some specific funny parts of Ask Chromus. I always want to know when I'm suceeding at being funny. :D

I'd say the questions are more funny, but also to respond to Zorn's post, this is the most popular thread. It's gotta have some funny, and with this many posts, the funny will most definitly show.

well, a lot of things I posted in the Best of TGB is one thing... as well as you multiple times asking for more questions... I don't why, but that is funny for some reason ^^;

(aka doesn't this guy have a life outside this thread. Does he actually exist in real life, or are he and Pez-man built into Comcast which is being manipulated by beyonder.)

The thread is called Ask Chromus. You're supposed to be asking me questions, not the other way around. :D

Oh, I have a life outside of this thread, though many wouldn't call it much of a life. I suppose this could include my secret life as a Comcast router...

"I created you, and I can destroy you, too!" :O

Anyways, with PS1 controllers, various games on the PS2 are also compatible with them. Games like this include FFX and others. However some games require the PS2 controller to operate. A game of this type is Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. My question is what is different about these controllers and games that some games are incompatible with the former controller?

It could be that certain PS2 games require the two analog sticks or sensitivity that the PS2 controllers provide. PS1 controllers didn't always have analog sticks, and one of the ways of requiring these is to permit only PS2 controllers.

I expect this is a stupid question, but do you still intend for Aldahar to go ahead?

Yes. Dither and I are still working on Aldahar. Actually, I should say that Dither is doing most of the work, since I don't have much time or motivation to continue. We still collaberate, though, and there is progress being made.

It's not just because of the analog sticks.. it's also because all the buttons are pressure sensitive and some games require the pressure sensitivity to be able to do some of the functions, such as in "The Bouncer" if you lightly tap the button it causes a wimpy attack but if you firmly press the button it causes a more powerful attack. (True... you could kinda do this kind of thing with the older controllers but.. making the buttons pressure sensitive gives you a higher degree of control in this aspect) Though on some games... I haven't got a clue as to why they do that.. maybe it's to promote sales of the PS2 controller?

Aldahar is coming along very nicely.. though slower then a corporate made game.. once i get something presentable, ill put up some screen shots of what there is so far. And of course, when we are ready, we will be asking for Alpha testers. BTW.. i would expect screen shots to be available within say.. a month from now.. and alpha testing somewhere in June or July(maybe).

Besides class work and.. work work(the thing i get paid for doing).. one of the reasons for the slowness (on my part) is that I have "painted myself into a corner".. I have too many projects going on at once.. and cant move on one until another is done, or close to done.. you will be able to see the status of all my projects and how much work on getting done on them daily on my blog thingy... once i finish writing it. heh

<in response to his previous question> I think it might have to do with the pressure sensitivity issue built into only the PS2 controllers. Because at one point in SO3:TtEoT, your actions are determined by how you press the button.
You can press it 4 ways
Light Tap
Light Hold
Hard Tap
Hard Hold
Without this function, you would be unable to get through a vital part of the game.
