1 degree C is not equal to 1 degree F. Here's why:

In C, water melts at 0 and vaporizes (evaporates) at 100. In F, water melts at 32 and vaporizes at 212. Water is a liquid for 100 degrees C (100 - 0) and for 180 degrees F (212 - 32). This means each 1 degree C is 1.8 degrees F (180 / 100), or that each 1 degree F is 0.55 degrees C (100 / 180). The formulas to convert back and forth are these:

F = 1.8 * C + 32
C = (F - 32) / 1.8

According to these formulas, -40 degrees F is -40 degrees C (1.8 * -40 + 32 = -40 and (-40 - 32) / 1.8 = -40)

What is a pornocracy? And how does it function?

How did the different measurements of temperature come about? In what order? How is it that they are offset from each other so strangely?

The Greek prefix in the word pornocracy, porno, means prostitute. The suffix, cracy, means government, or rule. Therefore, a pornocracy is postitute rule, or rule of the prostitutes. This term was originally used to describe a period in the tenth century where the popes were under the influence of corrupt women, especially Theodora and her daughter Marozia. This period was also known as the rule of the harlots. While these corrupt women may not have really been prostitutes, they were called such due to their influence over the popes and over electing new popes.

Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit invented the Fahrenheit scale of temperature measurement in 1724. He assigned 0 degrees F to the coldest thing he could find, a solution of ice and salt, and 96 degrees F to the temperature of human blood. (He actually used horse blood for calibration) Due to inaccuracies, the scale had to be recalibrated so 32 degrees F was the freezing point of water and 212 degrees F was the boiling point of water. Anders Celsius invented the centigrade (meaning 100 divisions) scale in 1742. He assigned 0 degrees C to the freezing point of water and 100 degrees C to the boiling point of water. While these values are approximately correct, due to the dependence on standard pressure, which in turn depends on temperature, the constant temperatures had to be recalibrated so the degrees would match degrees Kelvin, each of which are defined as 1/273.16 of the difference in temperature between absolute zero and the triple-point of pure water. The scale was renamed to Celsius to recognize Celsius's work in the field and to clear up confusion around the centi- prefix in SI measurements. Source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celsius

Define RPG

Usually, a role playing game revolves around how players, who assume the role of a character, interact with a storyline. That prevents most sports games from being RPGs since they don't have a storyline. I have no hope of accurately and totally defining what an RPG is, so I'm content to link you to the Wikipedia article about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role_playing_game

1337 = Elite
The evil language of replacing letters with numbers/symbols (Kinda fun to use sometimes but overall it's a hassle to deal with ^^;;)

And no you cannot beat the snot out of someone who breaks into your house unless your life/life of other people currently in house are in mortal danger. (IE, burglar has a gun or other weapon that has a high potential to kill and are going to use said weapon on you/other people in house) (( or at least that's the way it is as far as I know))

chromus could probably give way better explanations than I did ^^;; * just wanted a chance to show that he's smart... or at least thinks he's smart... or maybe he's just dumb and wanted to spout a bunch of nonsense that seems like it makes sense... Hmm.....*

Anyways... Uh... I had a question but I forgot what it was ^^;; *is lame* Ah well *gives chromus a kiwifruit*

OH! How many items/places/people bear the name "Kiwi"?
I know of New zealanders, Shoe polish, fruit... and there was one other but I can't recall it off the top of my head

Ask kamui thread? AUGH! No... I'm too lazy... I'd have to shoot myself if I had to go answering questions left and right about stuff that I only half understand.. heck... some of the stuff I don't understand at all ^^;; Ah well... *pelts all with kiwifruit*

1337 means leet. (1 = L, 3 = E, 7 = T) Usually, in l33t, (there are hundreds of variations) letters are repl@ced with number5 or 5y|\/|b015. (|\/| = M, 0 = O, 5 = S) As you can see, it's quite hard to read. Here's a wikipeida article that has more information about different translations that are made: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leet

The argument about defending yourself when a burglur enters your house depends on where you live, down to the county or sometimes city. In general, governments do not prevent you from defending yourself, but different governments have different ideas on what is defense and what is attack.

Don't worry, Kam. No one doubts that you're smart. In reality, I'm not all that smart, I just know how to do research.

*has a kiwifruit*

There are way too many kiwi-named items, places, or companies to list here. To get a small list, go to Google and type in kiwi. The first page alone lists 9 different organizations with the word kiwi in their name.

Adult Swim is actually a play on the term used by swimming pools that enforce a break every 45 minutes so adults can swim in peace. For swimming pools, an adult is usually someone above 18. It sounds like Cartoon Network wanted a section of cartoons that was a break from their normal cartoons, but they kept the age limit down so most people could watch it anyways.

1337 directly translates into leet however it's a shortened form of "elite"... due to people thinking that you are assumed to be "elite" if you use the language. Or at least that's what I've heard....
There are also many different forms of 1337... some only change parts of the words, some change the whole word, there are also some who use completely different symbols/numbers to represent the same thing....

And I am very stupid :P I wouldn't be continuing on with my knowlege of 1337 if I were smart :P *glomps chromus with the force of a marshmallow bazooka* ^_^

* n00b dies *

Damn.... there goes another one... Remember people! Every time you use 1337, god kills a newbie * n00b dies * DAMMIT!
