Wow. I have a terrible time with names. It seems like I'm always messing them up in some form or another. From now on, I'm just going to answer the questions and hope you can tell who asked them.

Bad breath is caused by bacteria, as was mentioned. The bacteria decompose food left over in your mouth from meals and release gasses that smell really bad. Combine that with the smells food makes when it naturally breaks down, and the gas turns noxious.

Our body has ways of breaking down normal oxygen. But we can't break down ozone. Another reason ozone doesn't help us is that it seems to speed up oxidation. It has the capability to deteriorate metals, plastic, rubber, and a host of other materials. That's part of the reason that it can kill us: it breaks down our internal organs.

No, I don't mind people asking questions. It's as much a learning experience for me as it is for some of you. While with some of these questions I already know the answer, there are a lot of them to which I don't, so I do some research and find out what the answer is. I then report it to the thread for all to enjoy. That way, I learn a whole bunch a facts, and so does everyone who reads this. From now on, I'm going to try to post sources to the answers that I look up so you can make sure I summarized it correctly or if you want to find out more.

I don't know what you mean by a retractable wire. Please clarify this.

When you try to remember the time during when you sleep, it always seems to be too fast, but this is actually an illusion. You experience time at a normal rate while you sleep, but you don't perceive anything. So when you look back, you can't remember even perceiving the passage of time, so it seems that it flew by.

No one really knows what a dream is. What we do know is that a dream occurs during the REM stage of sleep, when your eyes randomly shift back and forth. This has nothing to do with what you're dreaming about, however. Some psychologists think that a dream is the brain's way of combining the events of the day so it can review everything that happened. I don't think this is the case, as there are some pretty weird things that we can dream that never happened in real life.

Muscle cramps hurt. I get them in the back of my shin every once in a while. While we don't know what they are caused by, it seems to be related to exercise and nutrition. Getting proper exercise and proper nutrition usually prevent cramps, but some people are just predisposed to having them. The actual cramp itself is just the muscle tensing up. Okay, chro, here's a big one.

My dad just got a laptop yesterday so that he can connect to the Internet. Trouble is, he's running on XP and I have no idea how to configure it. I thought it was okay yesterday, because it was up and running. But now, all of a sudden today, it connects to the Internet. but it doesn't recognize anything. Every time I open IE, it comes up with that "This page cannot be displayed" crap.

We do have a network that runs DSL, but I attached one of those DSL filter things to the modem's phone cord (that's what we had to do with my Dreamcast - the modem would connect but then disconnect right away, so my dad attached a DSL filter to it and it worked fine). That didn't do anything either. Same problem - it connects, but doesn't recognize anything.

The internet connection problem could be caused by any number of things. The first thing I would have you test is taking the laptop to another house or some other location with an available phone jack and trying to dial up from there. If it works there, then you can see how to fix the phone wiring. If it still doesn't work, then it might be the way the computer is configured. Test that, and I'll guide you from there.

Tasers like that work on a vary simple principle: completing a circiut. A taser shoots two projectiles that are connected to the base by a wire. When the two projectiles impact a person, the metal at the ends offers a path of least resistance to the charge in the base and the victim is down for the count. The electricity flows from in the base unit, through one wire, through the victim's body, then out the other wire. After one use, the taser has to be rewound and reloaded with propellant. Space is mostly a vaccum, meaning that there's nothing there. Mostly. In reality, space is full of random particles and dust, but the concentration of the particles is so low that it doesn't really matter.

Hmm... that means that there's something wrong with your configuration. In order to diagnose this, I'm going to need more information. How many modems to you have installed and what kinds are they? Also, do you have a network card installed? Are you just having problems with the web, or is it with all internet connections in general? What programs are you running to test this? Anything you can tell me might help.

Alrighty...well, the OS is Windows XP, as I said earlier. The laptop isn't connected to the network yet; we just bought a network card for it yesterday, so it shold be on its way in a few days. It has an ethernet card, though. The modem is a 56 K, internal as you might have guessed. Now, the modem does dial up and connect, but it doesn't recognize any of the internet programs. We've tested Internet Explorer and Outlook Express; IE gives you the "This page cannot be displayed", and Outlook give you the "Outlook Express could not connect to the mail server" (which is different than the dial-up server; the mail server uses a .net POP3 account, whereas the dial-up just uses a regular .com). I looked over the DSNs, and they all match the ones that our ISP gave us. However. We used the ISP's install disc; when it autoran, it said that it couldn't determine what OS we were using (since XP is newer than the disc, it couldn't recognize it). It gave the choices of Win 95/98/NT/3.x. The first time I installed it, I chose NT; the second time I installed it (which was today; I figured all it might need was a clean start, so I just reinstalled the whole thing) I selected 98. I'm thinking we might need to get a new disc, one that supports XP, but...if it's something simple, then I'm not sure.

Alright, the first step is to uninstall the ISP's software. Trust me, you don't need it and it's easier to avoid it. I assume you have a local access number, a username, and password that the ISP gave you. First, go to Start->Settings->Network Connections. Here you should see a list of connections to the outside world. Delete them all, unless you know you need to save one for a specific reason. Then open the New Connection Wizard->Connect To the Internet->Set up my connection manually->Connect using a dial up modem. Type in your ISP's name and on the next page, the local access number you were given. On the next page, type in your username and password. Leave all the checkboxes checked. Once you are done with this, the connection should appear in Network Connections. Double click on it and let it connect. Test everything once you do that. If that still doesn't work, try that ADSL filter and dial up again. If that STILL doesn't work, then there's a lot more wrong that I think.
