Ah...okay, I'll stick 'em up. ^^ But after these guys comes my sonnets that my English teacher made us write for Friday! >:p
Now for the sonnets! There's two types that we learned about this year - Elizabethian (written by Shakespeare) and Italian (written by Petrarch). She's making us write one of each for Valentine's Day.
Elizabethan
I don't know which is worse - the rhyming or
The verse. The way you rhyme in one of these
Elizabethan sonnets is known as
Iambic pantameter, which means that
You must use a preset pattern that is
Ten syllables per line, with octaves and
Sestets - the first eight lines and the last six.
This is the last line of the octave.
This line sets the sestet off, and now the
Rhyming scheme of the sonnet can vary.
As for the verses, they can be pretty
Strange. But then again, it was long ago.
Yes, this sonnet was kind of hard to write.
And now you all can see how great my plight.
Italian
This next sonnet will be harder to do.
In the last one I talked about my plight.
You all know just how hard they are to write.
Well, I don't say this one will amaze you.
In any case, I've tried my best to give
You all a proper sonnet to listen
To...but it seems that it does not glisten
Like a proper sonnet that used to live.
I really don't know how I wrote these two
Sonnets, but somehow I did it, which is
Amazing in itself........what rhymes with "is"?
See what I mean? It's hopeless. I told you.
I'm missing two lines...but what do I write?
I guess I'll finish it again with "my plight".
