Nope, chaos theory is all about predictibility.

A speaker (hereafter called him for simplicity and not to be sexist) hears his voice differently than others because he isn't hearing it in the same way. (Circular logic, but keep reading) Others hear his voice through vibrations in air molecules, which get transferred to the ear drum, and so on. The speaker hears his voice in the same manner, plus the vibrations are transmitted through his skull, which are then transferred to the ear drum and so on. The two different sounds the speaker hears is combined into the voice that he hears when he speaks. (Confusing, huh?)

In short: the speaker hears his voice through the air and through his skull, causing him to hear a different sound than others, who only hear his voice through the air.

Chaos theory is all about how predicting things is a very difficult if not intractible problem. Even if you know all there is to know about a relatively simple system, complex patterns can still emerge that defy attempts at prediction. And if such chaotic patterns can emerge in relatively simple systems, then predicting something like the weather is orders of magnitude more difficult. For an example. just look at psuedo-random number generation algorithms. They appear to generate sequences of random numbers that satisfy many statistical tests for randomness. But given the same seed, a given random number generator will always generate the same series of numbers. But these numbers still appear random.

Now of course chaos theory is also about studying these chaotic systems to attempt to better understand them. So it makes more progress in learning about these systems than aproaches that try to avoid the complexity and stick to simple systems. It is difficult though. Chaotic systems tend to have some sort of order but at the same time they don't repeat their patterns. I guess the theory then is about the emergent patterns that appear in chaotic systems.

Chaotic systems tend to go towards some sort of long term stability, so it is possible to make some rough estimate of the state of the system at some point in the future, but at the same time it is difficult to tell what the exact value of the system will be at any given point even in the near future.

Fear not, microwaving food in plastic containers does not cause cancer. This fear was propagated through an e-mail hoax about a study that a seventh grader did on the effects of microwaving on plastic wrap. Well, I wanted to give a complete answer to his question. It's not my fault that the tables only support wrapping of sentences with spaces in them. If it helps, I'm going back and and fixing it so there are spaces between each set of eight.

Because ASCII coding made it that way to allow for 256 characters.

Too bad if Dither was using Unicode, which uses 2 bytes instead of one. Unicode is for being able to store _all_ alphabets (English, Katakana, Hiragana, etc...) and can have2^16 = 65536 characters.

Back when computer storage was first being invented, there weren't very many standards on how bits should be organized. ANSI (American National Standards Institute) decided that a standard for representing characters should be created. They found that 128 different values was suitable to represent everything that everyone would need. This fit within 7 bits (2 ^ 7 = 128). Shortly after, they discovered that this wasn't enough, as people needed special characters with accents and a whole host of other characters. They decided that 256 different values would work, and this fits in 8 bits (2 ^ 8 = 256). This was called the ASCII standard, and it's been around for a long time. It's been around for so long that the standard way of dividing up memory was centered around it, that 8 bits would be 1 byte. Only recently has the Unicode standard appeared, allowing for 65536 different values which fits in 16 bits (2 ^ 16 = 65536). This includes a lot more than just English characters, like Cyrillic, Hiragana, and Mongolian.
