In 1986, Canada stopped printing one dollar bills in favor of one dollar coins. Usually, forcing the public to switch to the coins is the main reason given for why the one dollar coin was so popular in Canada. Unfortunately, no such forced change happened in the United States, and that's usually the reason given for why one dollar coins aren't as popular. (Indirectly, that's why dollar bills are more popular) Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_dollar

Actually, how a vending machine detects that a bill is a real bill as opposed to a counterfeit bill is a closely guarded secret. According to an official at the Federal Reserve in Washington, DC, vending machines can have up to 30 different kinds of sensors to detect legitimate bills. What I meant by my answer was that the method by which the machines know what bill is what (whether it be a US 5 dollar bill, a Canadian 20 dollar bill, or a counterfiet bill) is very closely guarded by the makers of the machines. If it was known how the sensors differentiated bills from one another, it wouldn't be hard to make a counterfiet bill that would work.

According to Dictionary.com, Alchemy is:
1) A medieval chemical philosophy having as its asserted aims the transmutation of base metals into gold, the discovery of the panacea, and the preparation of the elixir of longevity
2) A seemingly magical power or process of transmuting.

Definition 1 means that, in the mideval ages, alchemists were looking for ways to turn metals (especially lead) to gold, the ultimate cure-all, (that's what panacea means) or a way to live forever. Therefore, alchemy is the changing of metals to gold or the creation of the ultimate cure-all or forever-life elixer.

Roger Moore has played James Bond in the most movies. From Live and Let Die (eight) to A View to Kill (fourteen), he played Bond 7 times. The runner up is Sean Connery who played Bond from Dr. No (one) to You only Live Twice(five) and again in Diamonds are Forever (seven), for a total of 6 times. From there, it's Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, and then George Lazenby. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_bond

Sorry, but I can't answer this questions. As of right now, there isn't a correct answer to it, as well as to all the other "why" questions. The reason is that scientific discovery can only explain how something happens, not why something happens.

Not always. For instance, I can explain how the moon revolves around the earth, but not why it does. When people ask why, it's usually not a clear question that doesn't have a clear answer. Sometimes, people are expecting an answer of "Because God made it that way".
