I could look it up, but it'd be better from someone who likes them:

What's a caiman?

it's a small crocodilian the ranges from 4 to 7ft, commonly found on the cayman islands, and have been known to live beyond the human life span, which is why I like them.

If you ask me, it doesn't get better than good old fashioned Pangolins.

But that's merely an opinion.

Bah. Not every pet needs to be exciting, or cute and cuddly. Fish are good for those who don't need/want to interact with pets, just watch how they act or show off.

Oh, right. I also like our Australian marsupials. Good ol' Kangaroos.

The only qualm I have about fish are their tiny, tiny memory spans. New tests are coming out to prove that they do have bigger memories, though. I think the premise was that even fish such as household goldfish would learn to stay away from areas patrolled by predators. I can't remember.

What about actual pets that we each have? My family, for one, has four cats, three dogs, two chickens, an uncountable amount of cockatiels (three of which are hand-raised), a cockatoo, a corella, and three alpaccas. And some... uh... seamonkeys?

Now thats an animal house. You don't always need to interact with your pets, but fish just don't do anything anyways. No acting or showing off, just moving. They look cool, but as pets, they're just floaters that require alot of work to clean the tank.

No pets in our house. We used to have fish and hamsters, but the results of both were disasterous. We still have, somewhere in our basement, the plastic cage with a hole chewed through by one of our hamsters.

The showing off bit for fish is the potential for bright colors and exotic looks swimming together. If you can afford hiring someone to clean your tank for you (as well as the fish) it's not that big of a burden. It sounds crazy, but this is how some people with lots of money show it off.
