The infamous wars between subbing and dubbing. If any war is started here, I'm just gonna lock it, I'm just posting my opinion. Yes, I do agree that American companies choose very poor actors for the voices. However, I do not mind either one, as long as I can understand what they're saying. I just don't see why there is so much war over it. And I do have a feeling this will eventually lead to some kind of violence somewhere. That would be completey pointless.

Each person can have their own opinion, but there's no reason to fight over such a silly thing.

wheres the war? i dont think theres many ppl out there who prefer dubs...at least in my experience i havent met that many

even within subs i usually prefer fansubs to commercial subs b/c in commercial subs sometimes they change the translations a bit....its kind of obvious when 2 or 3 fansubbing groups all had about the same translation, then when the commercial sub comes out, the commercial one is different.....

but of course theres also fansubbing groups that just suck.....im not gonna mention any names here, but i think you can think of a few for yourselves.....

Well, the only fansubs I have are Sailormoon SailorStars, done by VKLL. They're pretty good.

I personally don't mind either way however there are some dub jobs that were done well... I can't think of any at the moment because I'm half asleep at the time of typing this post but I'll let you know when I can remember one or two or however many I know ^^;;

Before any of you take my opinions to heart, let it be known that the list of anime that I have seen can be counted on the fingers of one hand:

Princess Mononoke
Dragonball Z
Dominion Tank Police
bits and pieces of other shows that I can't remember

In all of these cases, I feel that the dubbing job that was done was satisfactory. (Except in some cases in Dragonball Z) Most of the time, the voices usually match the character that is trying to be portrayed. If a good dubbbing job is done, the emotion that the voice carries makes it a far superior viewing experience than subbing.

you do, of course, know that when you're watching a sub you can hear the emotion in the original language....it's not like dubbing it *adds* emotion or anything...the princess mononoke dub was exceptionally good for a dub.....and as for the other two, the sound quality of 13 year old recordings is such that dubbing it doesnt take anything away from it.....and yet i still managed to hate the quality of dbz dubs...probably b/c i hated dbz in the first place....and especially in a lot of newer dubs, i find little girls w/ voices of full grown men and vice versa.....it just doesn't make sense

I like subs. They don't usually alter dialogue in subtitles so much, don't have to lip-sync and all that. Even if that isn't true in all cases, it still feels safer to read subtitles in my opinion... and fan subs be the good...

...

Though there was that ONE Slayers sub...

'I am Zelgadiss. I am a cyborg.'

... ._.;;;

that sounds like a animejunkies sub.....AJ enjoys messing things up. Another specialty of AJs is changing characters names. I especially love the low quality audio and video of AJs releases. I also like how they're translations make little to no sense at times.....all in all, AJ gets a 10/10 on the "what the...." scale....

yea, the voices in DBZ are good, but Sailor Moon's unfortunatly weren't as good...though I do like one line that stuck itself into my mind for some reason...
"I'm hurting in places I never knew I had!"--Forgot her name, she was Sailor Moon...

you are mistaken as alot of the voices in DBZ are messed up as well as extending the series longer after the Freeza saga

You mean Usagi, n00b.

I like VKLL's fansubs, as well as AnimeHeaven's, who do the Rockman EXE subs.
