Sure you're not thinking of Charge Man there, Chromus?

CrashMan = Drill kinda guy who threw bombs and jumped.
ChargeMan = Train.

What's up with ninjas and logs? Are there any connections you can find between the two?

That's actually quite ironic, since the definition of chargeman is "a workman employed to blast with explosives", which would certainly fit a robot master who uses bombs. Capcom sounds like they just like throwing assorted verbs and nouns in front of "man" and seeing what comes out.

As of yet, I can't find a link between ninjas and logs. I'll keep looking, though.

Is there a program for FreeBSD that keeps a total of the amount of bandwidth used over a month? The whole thing where the system counter rolls over at a little over 4GB is annoying...

I found a connection between ninjas and logs. In the video game Naruto, you have the capability to replace your character with a ninja-shaped log instantly upon getting hit, allowing you to strike the enemy from another direction. Apparently, this concept is a standard ninja-based joke. Source: http://www.planetgamecube.com/reviews.cfm?action=profile&id=357

Have you tried the program BMon? Here is the official website: http://trash.net/~reeler/bmon/ It's a graphical program that monitors bandwidth and can easily be installed from the port tree. (check here: http://www.freebsd.org/ports/net.html) If that doesn't work, the BMon homepage has some resources of other programs you can check out to collect data.

Well, I've seen connections between ninjas and logs, but I wanted to know what the connection really was. Is there some big ninja story? Is the ninja god a log?

I can't find any reference to it, but it seems that the popular joke is that ninjas are so skilled that, whenever you think you've killed them (or in some cases, even landed a blow), all you've done is deal damage to a log craftily put in the ninja's place, so the ninja can either strike you unexpectedly, or run away (perhaps a very un-ninja thing to do).

BMon only gives snapshots of current usage, but doesn't keep track over time. The packets sent report from BMon comes from the kernel. Which, again, overflows at 4.something GB sent...

Did any of the links from the BMon webpage help? You could write your own program that keeps track of it by implementing a datatype larger than a 32-bit integer.

How would one go about telling a computer that when a computer on the network requests an internet page through it, and it currently has an ADSL and a dialup connection up, that you only want it to get pages through the ADSL connection :?

The only thing I can think of to fix this situation is to disconnect from the dial-up connection. Usually, this won't cause any problems unless there is specifically a resource you need to get to that can only be accessed through the dial-up line.

I don't need to get anything through the dialup, they do. And while its up I can't get anything :/ It's very annoying.

I don't understand why anyone would need both a dial-up and DSL connection. Most companies that used to have private dial-up servers to access internal resources have replaced them with VPN connections that employees can use over standard internet connections. Who are you trying to connect to that uses a dial-up connection and a DSL connection, and why do they use both?

My mother uses our old dialup connection to send her email, since the email over ADSL hasn't been set up yet, and she's also still getting email to that address, and my father needs to dialup to his work.
